The Simple Job Description of the President of the United States

Now you may think that the most complex job description would be that of the President of the United States. Actually, the job description is pretty simple and straightforward. Taken from Article II, Sections 2 and 3 of the Constitution, the following is the job description a candidate might see if he or she were applying for the position of President of the United States.

Job Title

      • The President of the United States of America

Qualifications

      • Must be at least 35 years old
      • Must be a citizen of the United States
      • Must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years

Responsibilities

      • Act as the Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy
      • Grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States
      • Make Treaties with the advice and consent of the Senate.
      • Nominate and appoint Ambassadors, Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the Supreme Court, and other offices of the United States with the advice and consent of the Senate
      • Fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate
      • From time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient
      • Faithfully execute and take care of the laws of the United States

Work Status

      • Full-time for 4 Years
      • Possibility of a second 4 years

Compensation

      • $400,000 annual salary
      • $50,000 expense account
      • $100,000 nontaxable travel account
      • Free Room and Board
